Every engineering student has a story to tell about why they chose to pursue a career in the profession. This year, the student (or team) who does the best job of telling that story in a 90-second video will win a $3,000 cash prize and a trip to the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference in Montreal in June.
If you’re an engineering student, this could be a great opportunity to pad your resume — and your wallet. If you know an engineering student, be sure to pass along the news. Hurry — the deadline to submit is February 28th!
Direct your future
The 2nd annual ASEE/EngineeringCASTM Student Video Contest — “Engineering Careers & YOU!” — is open to all undergraduate and graduate engineering students currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. The award for second place is a $1,500 cash prize, and the award for third place is $500.
Your video about why you chose to pursue an engineering degree or career will be judged on its content, creativity and technical qualities — and should be as unique as you are.
ASEE’s mission is to advance “innovation, excellence and access at all levels of education for the engineering profession.” Liaison International is the provider of EngineeringCASTM, an online centralized application service used by the nation’s leading engineering schools to simplify the admissions process for students and staff alike. EngineeringCAS enables institutions to recruit best-fit students and build the engineering workforce of tomorrow while simultaneously connecting engineering students to opportunities in their field.
Inspiration in focus
ASEE launched its student video contest in 2019. In 2020, it renamed it the “ASEE/EngineeringCAS Student Video Contest” in recognition of Liaison’s sponsorship.
Ron Hyman, Liaison’s executive director of engineering education solutions, is looking forward to seeing this year’s winning submissions. “Last year’s contestants were asked to show where engineering education will be in 25 years. The winners — actually, all of the videos — were thought provoking and inspirational,” he said. “I expect the insights we gain from this year’s submissions to be just as eye-opening and exciting. We’re already eagerly awaiting the results of this year’s contest.”
