In celebration of Women’s History Month, we’re spotlighting people who identify as women who have removed barriers and created meaningful change across the higher education landscape, starting with our partner Nancy Zimpher, Ph.D., who in 2009 became the first woman to serve as Chancellor of the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
Nancy has the rare distinction of being the first woman to helm multiple major institutions: in addition to her work at SUNY, she was also the first woman chancellor of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and the University of Cincinnati’s first woman president.
Last summer, Nancy added her perspective to a panel discussion we hosted about current issues affecting student employability, Today’s Higher Ed Challenges, Tomorrow’s Workforce Opportunities. She spoke about the essential role institutions of higher education play in their communities, and how they can leverage their influence to create more successful career outcomes for their students.
Throughout Women’s History Month we’ll be featuring more women who have shaped the higher education landscape — stay tuned!
