Whether you’re a faculty member, dean or admissions leader in an undergraduate nursing education program, you know that working at the intersection of health care and higher education presents you and your program with complex challenges on a daily basis.
After all, both fields are in the throes of rapid change that calls into question many long-held beliefs about the best way to advance the goals of your institution, students and the profession they serve.
That’s why we hope to see you at the upcoming American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Baccalaureate Education Conference in Orlando, FL (Nov. 21-23), where more than 500 of your peers from baccalaureate nursing education programs around the country will share strategies to help you excel in your role as an academic nursing leader.
Helping your students — and your staff
To make the most of your time in Orlando, be sure to set aside a few minutes to learn about the benefits of joining NursingCAS™, the Centralized Application Service (CAS™) for nursing programs.
NursingCAS is an online application designed to simplify the nursing school admissions process by enabling students to apply to multiple programs with a single electronic application. It’s a service of the AACN that allows prospective students to discover and apply to associate degree, baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral programs offered by hundreds of participating nursing schools.
Here’s what current members of the NursingCAS community are saying about it:
“The implementation of NursingCAS positioned our school on the national map to be noticed by more prospective applicants. Now we’re being more selective about who we accept, and we are able to look at qualities beyond the grade point average.”
– Dr. Ruth Grubesic, Assistant Professor of Nursing and Public Health, Schreiner University School of Nursing
“As a result of implementing NursingCAS, our minority and male acceptances to nursing programs increased by 10%. And our quality — average GPAs and average GRE scores across all CAS programs — has gone up, too.”
– Chad Oppelt, Assistant Director of Graduate, Extended and Online Admissions, College of St. Scholastica
NursingCAS also makes it easy to:
- Conduct more comprehensive “holistic” evaluations of applicants.
- Quickly and accurately calculate GPAs and verify transcripts.
- Streamline the application review process and maintain high standards.
